Frequently Asked Questions about ATMOS benchtop IR CO2 incubator.

Why ATMOS do not need any humidity to work?

Atmos CO2 sensor measures CO2 concentrations based on a infrared spectrometer technology. No humidity is required to get accurate adjustement of CO2.( as it is with heat conductivity principle). This reduces contamination riskd through algea , or fungies...

What are the performance of ATMOS TI for long-term-culture?

Atmos is like a research incubator .Its small size desn't not prevent it from fonctionning like a big one. ATMOS 's parameters are constant enough with the to allow embryo growth up to the blastocyst stage.

Is a preequilibration needed before incubating in ATMOS?

There is no need to preequilibrate before incubating in ATMOS.

Using water in the tray, how do you avoid condensation at the glass door?

ATMOS is delivered with a big petri dish which cup has an hole enough to allow around 70-80% humidity.

Normally with such a volume of distilled water, there is no condensation because of the double glass isolation of the door , filled with a special gas to avoid temperature changes

Is there any special protocol to work with ATMOS? .There is no special protocole to work with a CO2 incubator whatever the incubator but ATMOS is delivered with an english written user manual and an hot line for help as wellas a contact e-mail.

Is it +/-0,5°C Tp.accuracy quite enough ?

you have to know that the temperature is permanently moving up and down for adjustment . Each ATMOS is delivered with a Tp. / CO2 QC protocole .

Is the special coated glass against UV-light enough to protect embryos for long term culture?

The standard delivered glass door is darkened enough to protect biological material for excessive light.More over the double glass gas isolated door protect effeciently against external physical parameters like Tempraturew changes or light .

ATMOS can be delivered with an optional absolute darkened glass door .

Is ATMOS designed to work ONLY under oil without humidity?

NO, Atmos can work with or without humidity (adviced is to work without humidity, to avoid contamination but under the condition that culture are performed under oil

For culture sunder oil there is no risk of evaporation of the culture medium, (no changes of osmolarity will occur) .For culture in open dish , humidity is needed so that culture do not dry under the ventilator blowing.

Is it possible to use ATMOS-TI with a pre-mixed gas of 5%CO2 5% O2 and 90% N2?

The infrared sensor technology is the best, finest and most reliable technology for CO2 incubators. The mixed gas procedure is out for conventional IVF , unless you want to work with particular gas concentrations ( e.g. reduced oxygen tension... )
